Eine Frage der Persönlichkeit
The term temperament or personality refers to individual differences in behaviour that are consistent over time and across situation and cannot be accounted for by differences in age or sex. Temperament is important in small animal veterinary medicine as it may predispose to several behavioural problems and even health conditions. Additionally, temperament has a strong effect on how animals cope with environmental challenges. An individual’s temperament results from the interplay between genetic, epigenetic and environmental factors and these will be discussed in the presentation. Also, the effect of temperament on the behaviour and welfare of dogs and cats will be discussed.
